Our Solutions

OVERVIEW

Since the discovery of plastics in the 1930’s this extraordinary material has in one form or another risen to become an integral part of our daily lives. In fact, many modern technological advances would not be possible without the use of plastics. Society’s dependence on this versatile and cost-effective material has resulted in its exponential proliferation, mostly to make products that are discarded within a short period or at best a few years.

The issue: Social advancement and the use of plastics materials have created both economic stability as well as major environmental concerns.

Because ordinary plastics simply do not degrade/ breakdown for hundreds of years and many municipalities either do not recycle or don’t recycle a wide array of plastics. Much of the plastic waste ends up in landfills or even worse as litter, becoming a serious economic, social and environmental problem. As well as being a visual blight to our green planet. Plastic waste pollutes not only the world’s landmass but its oceans and waterways as well. These problems have led to a growing and immediate need for alternative thinking as well as a viable economic solution.

For many years we have successfully look for ways to make plastics do more of what we need or wanted; making it impervious to environment, exposure and degradation. Today, we have to be in the business of making plastic products and packaging that are more in harmony with (do-no-harm) to the environment.

Today’s Best Plastic Solution

Oxobioplast provides the best solutions for plastics, that is more sustainable, environmentally safe, cost effective and programmable solutions.

Sustainable: ‘Trash to Riches’

Conventional plastics are produced from a waste byproduct known as Naphtha, which is produced by the oil and gas industry.

Environmentally Safe: ‘Working in harmony with nature’

‘Do no harm’ products and technologies that work in harmony with the environment.

Programmable: ‘Timing is everything and part of the solution’

No technology guarantees or ensures biodegradation, as the process will only take place in the right environment and under the correct conditions.

Cost effective: ‘Good value and a sense of purpose’

Solving the plastic problem that plague our environment starts by offering good value. As responsible users and usage are truly the only solution.

OXO - Susceptible to the Environment

The term “oxo-biodegradability” is a hybridization of two words, oxidation and biodegradability. It defines clearly a two-step process initiated in this case by an OXOBIO additive to scission the polymer chain (break up) and make it available for bio-digestion (biodegradation) within the environment when a treated item has finished its useful life.

BIO - The Natural Process of Microbes

Natural materials that are capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms in the natural environment. Biodegradable the ability of materials to break down and return to nature. In order for packaging products or materials to qualify as biodegradable, they must completely break down and decompose into natural elements within a short time after disposal.

COM - Assisting the Natural Process

Compostable means that a product is capable of disintegrating into natural elements in an industrial compost environment. This typically must occur in about 90 days. Compostable materials are similar to biodegradable materials, as they are both intended to return to the earth safely. While biodegradable materials are designed to break down within nature, compostable materials require special composting conditions.

Oxobioplast Inc. offers

Application driven solutions in the form of oxo-degradable, bio-degradable and compost-degradable and other sustainable technologies to make plastics and plastic packaging more susceptible to the environment (UV, Heat, Oxygen, Moisture and Stress).

By reducing the molecular weight of the polymer allowing for micro-organisms in the environment to convert the oxidized polyolefin to CO2, H2O and biomass, through a process of ‘bio-digestion’ (biodegradation). Oxobioplast product line offers a greater degree of control and predictability than our competitors.

Oxo-biodegradable

Oxo-biodegradable technology is used around the world because it works—plastic products using the technology degrade and oxo-biodegrade in the disposal environment they are designed for. Because this is an additive technology, it is easy to implement in existing processing facilities.” Plastics News, July 16th, 2007
