Reverte® provides the most technologically advanced, safest way to degrade plastics

Reverte® is an innovative product line used to degrade plastics. Reverte® can be used in consumer packaging and other applications including agricultural mulch films, industrial film, food packaging (PE, BOPP, CPP and PET) and shopping bags (HDPE, LDPE). The Reverte® oxo-biodegradable additive family is well suited to a wide range of processes and applications, has extensive food contact status and has been used for many years to provide a reliable and reproducible oxo-biodegradable profile around the world.

Why Reverte®? – Environmentally Friendly, Superior Technology

It has been shown repeatedly that the Reverte® product is technically superior to others on the market. There are a number of advantages, including a greater degree of control and predictability than our competitors.

Plastics incorporating Reverte® will ultimately oxo-degrade, making it accessible to microbial life for bio-digestion into CO2, H2O and biomass when properly discarded. Compared to vegetable based oxo-biodegradable additives currently available on the market, the oil based Reverte® additives contain a unique two part control package which enhance its performance in the following ways:

1.

Additives control package is photo-initiated which means that the oxidative reaction doesn’t significantly begin before the product is discarded and exposed to UV light and/or heat.

Competitive Advantage: Reverte® therefore gives an enhanced level of confidence versus other oxo-biodegradable additives, which are initiated at the processing stage through thermal exposure. This is particularly important with respect to “fit-for-purpose” and premature breakdown of products.

2.

Uses a unique pro-degradant package to controllably reduce the length of the polymer chains.

Competitive Advantage: The Reverte® pro-degradant does not contain any heavy or toxic metals. The Reverte® degradation process does not just cause fragmentation but changes the molecular structure of the plastic making it assessable for bio-digestion by microbial life forms.

3.

Has secondary phase bio-digestion promoters that assist the growth of microbial colonies. This speeds up and facilitates the ultimate mineralization of the plastic following its initial oxidation.

4.

Reverte® is formulated to be effective at a 1% – 1.5% inclusion into the final product. It is within this low inclusion we are able to formulation the programmable nature of the technology is set, as opposed to adding more of the material to have a quicker reaction time.

Competitive Advantage: The above are unique to Reverte®, the control packages and secondary phase bio-digestion promoters are particularly invaluable in situations where little or no UV light or heat is available since in these circumstances the Reverte® oxo-biodegradation process is more likely to continue.

Other Benefits and Advantages of Reverte®

Reverte® additives have a very long shelf-life, therefore they can be stored prior to use.

Plastics incorporating Reverte® have not been found to emit any offensive odours during their oxo-biodegradation.

Reverte® additives comply with FDA and EC Food Contact regulations.

Reverte® additives are harmless to humans, animals and plant life and are non-toxic, leaving no known harmful residues in the soil or waste streams.

Reverte® Check Out Bag Grade

Oxobioplast offers latest grade of Reverte® for the check out bag marketplace. Reverte® has been used in this application for a number of years and Wells have seen ongoing price pressures on their customers and have responded to their needs by producing a new more cost effective grade of Reverte.® Reverte® BD 94718 (COB) contains the same ASTM 6954-04 compliant additive package as used in Reverte® BD 92771 but benefits from a lower cost delivery system.Plastic film for wrapping newspapers and magazines

Degradation Profile

This new grade of material performs as per Reverte® BD 92771 with only a marginal impact of haze within the film, therefore should offer significant savings for the end users of Reverte® and is specifically targeted at the competitive check out bag.
